Former NASA and UTMB-Galveston Security Expert Joins Zecurion as Chief Security Officer

30-Year Security Veteran and Trainer Ross Leo Will Serve as Security Advisor for Zecurion Clients

NEW YORK, NY -- (Marketwire) -- 11/09/09 -- Zecurion Inc., an information security systems leader that protects business against insider threats, appoints 30-year information systems security and HIPAA veteran Ross Leo to the position of Chief Security Officer (CSO).

Securing proprietary corporate data from external attacks and insider theft is a job that's getting harder, says Zecurion CEO Alexey Raevsky. Cloud computing, virtualization, a complex regulatory environment, and increased internal theft risks are just a few concerns underscored in CIO's annual Global Information Security survey released earlier this month. Corporations see the threats and are responding in-kind by adding CISOs to their leadership teams, Raevsky says, but there's a lot of industry confusion around the perceived safety and risks; confusion that Leo is in a position to clear up.

"Leo's track record in IS, security, and HIPAA will be hugely beneficial to Zecurion and our customers. He oversaw security at several companies, including NASA and the University of Texas, and he has demonstrated industry leadership as executive director of the HIPAA Conformance Certification Organization and as HIPAA compliance and security trainer."

"My goal at Zecurion," says Ross Leo, "is to enable business success by preventing losses (which includes loss of revenue, customers, and stock value), and I'll do that by preventing the loss of data. When working with Zecurion customers, I'll employ the same practical approach I used when I was CISO, and that is to help them pursue a course of risk management that's cost effective, and that addresses their real risks and real threats. It's about finding the right solution for the right person."

While the focus and objectives of IoT initiatives are many and diverse, they all share a few common attributes, and one of those is the network. Commonly, that network includes the Internet, over which there isn't any real control for performance and availability. Or is there? The current state of the art for Big Data analytics, as applied to network telemetry, offers new opportunities for improving and assuring operational integrity. In his session at @ThingsExpo, Jim Frey, Vice President of S...

The Internet of Things is clearly many things: data collection and analytics, wearables, Smart Grids and Smart Cities, the Industrial Internet, and more. Cool platforms like Arduino, Raspberry Pi, Intel's Galileo and Edison, and a diverse world of sensors are making the IoT a great toy box for developers in all these areas. In this Power Panel at @ThingsExpo, moderated by Conference Chair Roger Strukhoff, panelists discussed what things are the most important, which will have the most profound e...
The Jevons Paradox suggests that when technological advances increase efficiency of a resource, it results in an overall increase in consumption. Writing on the increased use of coal as a result of technological improvements, 19th-century economist William Stanley Jevons found that these improvements led to the development of new ways to utilize coal. In his session at 19th Cloud Expo, Mark Thiele, Chief Strategy Officer for Apcera, compared the Jevons Paradox to modern-day enterprise IT, examin...
