Oracle Goes "All In" at Cloud Expo in New York - I

A Total of Eight Sessions Highlight the Most Comprehensive Program in the World

Oracle Keynote at Cloud Expo

Oracle CEO Larry Ellison's humorous remarks about Cloud Computing a couple of years ago have been widely misunderstood.

A facile reading of them might give the impression that he was dismissive of the entire topic.

Oracle is clearly working to bring meaningful discussion to Cloud Computing at this juncture. In addition to being the sole Diamond Sponsor at Cloud Expo at the Javits Center in New York April 19-21, the company has stepped up to participate in no less than eight sessions during what will be, by far, the largest conference and exhibition about Cloud Computing produced anywhere in the world to date. (The exhibit floor alone is larger than all other Cloud events combined.)

Here is a review of four of the Cloud Expo technical breakout sessions that, in addition to the Opening Keynote on Day One, feature presenters from Oracle:

Virtualized Infrastructure: The Server Is Not Enough
Speaker:
Chris Barclay
Date: April 19, 2:40 pm-3:25 pm
Virtualization is one of the foundation technologies for cloud computing.  While servers and storage are the most fundamental targets of virtualization, the broader scope of virtualization includes desktop virtualization, a changing approach to systems management, and optimization of shared application components in virtualized environments.  This session will cover the role and impact of virtualization from desktop to data center.

DaaS Cloud: Lining your Cloud with Data
Speaker: Cameron Purdy
Date: April 19, 4:40pm-5:25pm
Organizations embracing Cloud Computing are quickly realizing how Data Grid technology can solve many of the challenges associated from running applications on distributed shared infrastructure across the globe. From hosting data as a service, sharing application state across applications, parallel processing of transactions, events and messages, Data Grids provide the perfect combination of extensibility, reliability and performance needed to meet the demands of Cloud Computing.  This session will map the evolution of Data Grid technology and how it is being successfully integrated into Cloud Computing.
