Work Flexibility Remains Top Priority for the American Workforce

LiveOps Survey Shows Overwhelming Support for Flexibility and Independence in Work

WASHINGTON, DC -- (Marketwire) -- 04/01/10 -- In a survey released today of its independent agent community, 66% of respondents cited work flexibility as the number one reason they have chosen to contract with LiveOps. These results underscore the importance for businesses and government to consider how flexibility plays a role in retention and productivity of workers.

With flexibility noted as a cornerstone of its business, LiveOps was one of a handful of companies invited to participate in yesterday's Forum on Workplace Flexibility hosted by the White House Council on Women and Girls. Participants in the forum joined the President and First Lady in discussing ways to change the culture of the traditional workplace.

"LiveOps is thrilled to see the White House addressing such innovative ideas in the way we work and operate businesses in the U.S.," said Maynard Webb, chairman and CEO of LiveOps. "It is the belief of LiveOps, our customers and our community of 20,000 independent contractors, that flexibility is a solution that benefits both businesses and workers."

The Forum outlined best practices for creating successful alternatives to the traditional office environment that benefit both employers and employees and began to explore the concept of freelancing and temporary work. Released during the Forum was a report issued by the White House Council of Economic Advisers that found companies with flexible work arrangements enjoy lower turnover and absenteeism, higher productivity and healthier workers. Additional themes throughout the afternoon centered on technology, training, result-based outcomes, private-public partnerships and data collection as important components to moving the nation toward a more flexible work environment.

Regan Parker, senior manager of government relations and advocacy for LiveOps, attended yesterday's Forum at the White House. She commented, "LiveOps supports policies and legislation that encourage flexible work, including contracted and freelance jobs. We believe our unique approach answers the President's call for innovation, flexibility and growth in the way our business operates and we thank the Administration for bringing this issue to light."

Digital Transformation is much more than a buzzword. The radical shift to digital mechanisms for almost every process is evident across all industries and verticals. This is often especially true in financial services, where the legacy environment is many times unable to keep up with the rapidly shifting demands of the consumer. The constant pressure to provide complete, omnichannel delivery of customer-facing solutions to meet both regulatory and customer demands is putting enormous pressure on...
IoT is rapidly becoming mainstream as more and more investments are made into the platforms and technology. As this movement continues to expand and gain momentum it creates a massive wall of noise that can be difficult to sift through. Unfortunately, this inevitably makes IoT less approachable for people to get started with and can hamper efforts to integrate this key technology into your own portfolio. There are so many connected products already in place today with many hundreds more on the h...
The standardization of container runtimes and images has sparked the creation of an almost overwhelming number of new open source projects that build on and otherwise work with these specifications. Of course, there's Kubernetes, which orchestrates and manages collections of containers. It was one of the first and best-known examples of projects that make containers truly useful for production use. However, more recently, the container ecosystem has truly exploded. A service mesh like Istio addr...
