TORONTO, Dec. 27 /PRNewswire/ -- Invatron Systems Corp., a leading provider of integrated retail enterprise software solutions, announced today the release of Version 3.0 of their PeriScope DSS Fresh Item Management solution. This latest edition of PeriScope continues to build on the modular foundation of earlier versions with significant additional capabilities. PeriScope's modular design provides retailers with flexible implementation options enabling them to address the key areas of their fresh department operations, which are most pertinent to their business.
Retailers can choose from an "a la carte" set of modules that specifically target optimization and control of a variety of key business functions within the perimeter departments. This approach enables retailers to purchase only those modules necessary to address their specific operational challenges. Additional components can be added easily in the future depending on which areas of the fresh operations business require focus.
Introduced with PeriScope Release 3.0 is a new module entitled "Depth 400 - Backroom Manager." This module provides Backroom operations with inventory control and store order forecasting capabilities. This will help to "close the loop" in a fresh item department's inventory control and management processes, through integration with the retailer's existing replenishment and supply chain applications.
Also added in this release is Recipe Management support within the existing Depth 300 Module for use in Bakery and Prepared Foods departments. Recipe Management enables control of all aspects of the recipe and ingredient formulation process including portion control, dynamic costing and nested recipes that generate finished goods sold in multiple sizes.
In addition, production recommendations and sales forecasts can now be generated by recipe as it relates to finished good demand to ensure proper production requirements are met. Dynamic costing provides the ability to generate gross margin reports to further support price and product mix optimization to ensure profit targets are met. With Depth 400 - Backroom Manager, Recipe Management also provides operators insight into raw material ordering requirements to meet forecasted consumer demand.
"Release 3.0 of PeriScope represents our continued commitment to continuously improve our fresh item management offerings with key features and additional functionality to enable operational excellence in this area for our customers," said Axel Doerwald, Invatron's President and CEO. "Retailers now have a robust set of tools they can use across all perimeter departments to manage their operations more effectively and more profitably. In the highly competitive climate that is today's grocery marketplace, retailers need the type of capability that PeriScope DSS can provide."
PeriScope DSS is a web-enabled, thin-client application suite for complete management of all operational functions within the fresh food departments of the grocery store.
