Technology Leaders and Venture Capitalists Close Day Two of CITE Conference & Expo

Twitter's Director of Corporate Development, Mike Brown, Discussed How to Enhance Business by Innovating With Consumer Social Tools

SAN FRANCISCO, CA -- (Marketwire) -- 03/06/12 -- IDG Enterprise's inaugural Consumerization of IT in the Enterprise (CITE) Conference & Expo today wrapped up with forward-looking insight on consumer technology's place within the enterprise. During the course of CITE Conference & Expo, attendees heard from top IT executives, technology providers and venture capitalists who have been on the forefront of integrating consumer technologies into the enterprise.

Scott Kirsner, writer of the Innovation Economy column at The Boston Globe, delivered opening remarks, followed by a roundtable on "Innovating with Consumer Social Tools: New Techniques and Best Practices" with Mike Brown, Director of Corporate Development, Twitter and John Gallant, SVP and Chief Content Officer, IDG Enterprise. Diving further into how organizations are adapting to these new technologies, Mark Templeton, President and CEO of Citrix Systems, Inc., presented the day's keynote on "Resistance is Futile: Embrace the Forces of Consumerization."

Maryfran Johnson, Editor in Chief, CIO magazine, John Murray, CIO, Genworth Financial Wealth Management, and Myra Rothfeld, CMO, Genworth Financial Wealth Management discussed the CIO and CMO's roles in the consumerization of IT. Next, a panel including Noah Broadwater, CTO, Sesame Workshop; Bernard C. Soriano, Ph.D., CIO, California Department of Motor Vehicles; Brad Wright, Vice President, IT Integrated Customer Services, Jacobs; and Gallant focused on how organizations use social channels such as Twitter and Facebook to achieve business goals and to deliver on their corporate mission.

Additionally, attendees received tips on preparing the enterprise for consumer IT during a presentation and town hall chat with Kirsner; Julia King, Executive Editor, Events and National Correspondent, Computerworld; Rick Bauer, Director, Product Management, CompTIA; Zev Levon, Director, Enterprise Solution Architecture, CareFirst BCBS; David Nix, Infrastructure Manager, Yum Brands; and Jim Spicer, CIO Corporate Technology and Data, Wells Fargo.

Rounding out the day was a panel entitled "Next Generation on the Horizon: A Venture Capital View into the Next Generation of Business." The panel featured Alex Rosen, Managing Director, IDG Ventures; Rob Coneybeer, Managing Director, Shasta Ventures; Sameer Gandhi, Partner, Accel Partners; and George Zachary, Partner, Charles River Ventures. Panelists examined what technologies are in the pipeline for consumer IT and what they mean for enterprise IT strategy.
