Desktone, Inc., the pioneer of Desktops as a Service (DaaS), today announced that the Desktone Platform is now available to service providers in the U.S. and Canada via the Ingram Micro Cloud Marketplace (www.ingrammicrocloud.com), a transactional, online marketplace where solution providers can shop, procure, provision and obtain invoices for their cloud services directly from Ingram Micro Inc. (NYSE: IM). This announcement represents an expansion of Desktone’s channel program, making its virtual desktop platform more accessible to a broad network of service providers, and meets service provider demand for innovative virtual desktop offerings that are cost-effective, easy-to-use and deploy.
The Desktone Platform is the industry’s only virtual desktop solution built specifically for delivering desktops as a cloud service. Using the Desktone Platform, service providers and telecom companies can deliver DaaS at a much lower price point than traditional virtual desktop infrastructure (VDI) technology. The platform provides true multi-tenancy while complying with Microsoft licensing. Under the terms of the agreement, Ingram Micro’s cloud sales team will actively market, sell and support delivery of the Desktone Platform to its growing base of cloud-focused channel partners.
“Desktone has seen substantial interest from service providers as many realize how quickly and easily they can provision and manage virtual desktops for their end user customers from a central platform,” said Peter McKay, CEO, Desktone. “Inclusion in the Ingram Micro Cloud Marketplace makes it easy to deliver robust DaaS solutions on top of existing cloud offerings while giving service providers the ability to deploy Windows desktops on any end user device without any of the hassles or costs typically associated with VDI.”
“This alliance validates our approach to selling DaaS through service providers who use our platform as a foundation for their own proprietary desktop management services to further grow their own revenue,” concludes McKay.
In the past six months, Desktone has significantly expanded its list of service provider partners. Most recently, NaviSite a leading provider of cloud solutions, partnered with Desktone to offer cloud-hosted virtual desktops. Desktone also powers Dell Desktop Virtualization Solutions (DVS) Simplified DaaS, full-featured virtual desktops delivered from Dell’s state-of-the-art data center. Other notable service providers delivering DaaS through Desktone include Fujitsu, Netelligent and Quest.
“Ingram Micro has a proven track record for successfully enabling our channel partners to sell and support cloud-based services and solutions,” said Renee Bergeron, vice president of Managed Services and Cloud Computing, Ingram Micro North America. “Interest and demand around full virtual desktop solutions is on the rise, which is why we’re pleased to announce this new distribution relationship with Desktone and expand our cloud services portfolio to further enable MSPs interested in hosting and delivering desktop virtualization solutions to their end customers.”
