(Dell Storage Forum) — Silver Peak Systems, the leader in accelerating data over distance, today announced that more customers throughout North America, Europe, Middle East, Africa (EMEA) and Asia Pacific are deploying Silver Peak virtual products with Dell EqualLogic storage solutions to accelerate offsite replication workloads. By replicating data faster over existing networks, customers can exceed recovery point objectives (RPO) while minimizing infrastructure costs.
In North America, companies like Deere Credit Union, Dickinson Wright, Focus Technologies, Hawkins, National Seating and Sun East Federal Credit Union rely on Silver Peak with Dell EqualLogic to accelerate replication processes over distance. In EMEA, companies like Aramex and ZLTO have dramatically reduced the amount of time it takes to move large volumes of data over constrained networks. In Asia Pacific, companies like Deswik Mining achieve RPOs over longer distances using less bandwidth.
“The WAN link between our two locations did not provide enough capacity to support rapid synchronization of all our volumes,” said Bart Haans, ICT manager for ZLTO, an association that handles national relations for over 18,000 farmers across the Netherlands. “We were able to quickly install Silver Peak and simply redirect the traffic between our EqualLogic arrays through the Silver Peak virtual appliances. No changes to the network were required, and we were up-and-running accelerating traffic in just a few hours.”
Dell EqualLogic Auto-Replication can periodically replicate data from primary sites to designated disaster recovery sites with Silver Peak VXOA software optimizing the data movement and providing granular visibility and control over the traffic. This helps ensure business continuity in the event of an outage.
In lab testing, Silver Peak demonstrated performance gains of up to 15x for replication throughput, while real-world deployments have realized up to 20x with up to 90% WAN bandwidth reduction.
“Through a combination of real-time optimization techniques, Silver Peak enabled us to reduce our replication times from 24 hours to 8 hours over our existing WAN infrastructure,” said Tom Robertson, CTO at Charter Bank. “Silver Peak’s appliances have become critical to our disaster recovery processes, enabling us to replicate all of our data to a secure offsite location in a fast, reliable, and cost effective manner.”
“As a Dell global preferred partner, we are excited to see more customers reaping the benefits of a Silver Peak-accelerated Dell EqualLogic deployment,” said Marc Trimuschat, vice president of alliances and the Dell relationship for Silver Peak. “Our software-based solutions enable quick and easy deployment of WAN acceleration from anywhere in the world, and with our free self-service trials directly from our website, anyone can start optimizing their disaster recovery deployments immediately.”
