Nucleus Research has announced its eleventh annual Top 10 Technology Predictions for 2013, highlighting trends from deeper analytics penetration to a decline in security spending and BYOD as organizations focus in on ROI.

Nucleus has an enviable track record in accurate predictions over the past 11 years that have helped our clients and the industry,” said Ian Campbell, CEO, Nucleus Research.
A list of the 2013 predictions includes:
- Expanded BI adoptions doubles worldwide as further efforts from vendors make analytics accessible to every user.
- Integration investment acquisitions will expand with the development of turnkey integration of both cloud and on-premise applications.
- Edge applications extend from core ERP to supply chain and collaboration areas.
- 3-D printing costs fall as the technology develops, spurring security concerns and questions on regulatory issues associated with the technology.
- Customer experience race continues at a fevered pace with perceived market leadership changes, as well as a sought after high potential ROI.
- End of customization as vendors reduce the complexity of customer application deployments.
- Unemployment issues continue, spurred on by a step-function change of magnitude in the employability of adults without college degrees.
- Security spending dips as CFOs look more closely at investments versus their companies’ history of reduced security breaches.
- Social performance management takes hold in areas that include HR, with big players like Salesforce.com and SAP picking up or developing applications in this area.
- BYOD declines as companies realize support costs, compliance risks, and usage reimbursement drawbacks become more evident.
