Oracle Announces Availability of Oracle Tax Analytics 2.0

Application Helps Public Sector Organizations Improve Visibility Into Tax and Revenue Management Operations and Make More Informed Decisions

REDWOOD SHORES, CA -- (Marketwire) -- 11/27/12 -- Oracle (NASDAQ: ORCL)

News Facts

  • Oracle announced the availability of Oracle Tax Analytics 2.0, an enterprise data warehouse solution that addresses public sector agencies' multi-purpose operational and predictive analytical needs for tax and revenue management.
  • The solution includes a pre-built Oracle Tax Data Model that is designed to integrate and store transactional and historical data from multiple sources -- such as data from the Census Bureau or Department of Motor Vehicles -- and then analyze current and historical information to make predictions about taxpayer behavior and motivations. This enables organizations to take the most effective compliance and risk management actions.
  • Oracle Tax Analytics also includes pre-built operational analytics and performance monitoring functionality that enables public sector organizations to set specific objectives (i.e. improve collections), define key performance indicators (KPIs) (i.e. total amount of tax or outstanding debt collected) and revise objectives based on results. This functionality brings together KPIs from all departments to present agency-wide performance reports to executives. It also enables organizations to drill into individual departments' dashboards to better understand why an objective or KPI is above or below target.
  • With Oracle Tax Analytics, public sector organizations can continuously monitor progress and get consistently accurate results, without requiring IT intervention or an army of business analysts to manually calculate each KPI. This ensures accurate and consistent calculations across the agency, provides all users access to the same information, and enables timely issue identification -- ultimately making the entire analytics and performance monitoring process more efficient and effective.

Cloud computing delivers on-demand resources that provide businesses with flexibility and cost-savings. The challenge in moving workloads to the cloud has been the cost and complexity of ensuring the initial and ongoing security and regulatory (PCI, HIPAA, FFIEC) compliance across private and public clouds. Manual security compliance is slow, prone to human error, and represents over 50% of the cost of managing cloud applications. Determining how to automate cloud security compliance is critical...

What is less apparent is how incumbent enterprises operating at scale have, following success with IoT, built analytic, operations management and software development capabilities - ranging from autonomous vehicles to manageable robotics installations. They have embraced these capabilities as if they were Silicon Valley startups.
"MobiDev is a Ukraine-based software development company. We do mobile development, and we're specialists in that. When talking IoT we often focus on the devices, the sensors, the hardware itself. The new smart appliances, the new smart or self-driving cars (which are amalgamations of many ‘things'). When we are looking at the world of IoT, we should take a step back, look at the big picture. What value are these devices providing. IoT is not about the devices, its about the data consumed and generated. The devices are tools, mechanisms, conduits. This paper discusses the considerations when dealing with the...
