Neville Pattinson, of Gemalto and Secure ID Coalition, to Testify Before House Subcommittee on Medicare Fraud

Announcement

Neville Pattinson, Gemalto’s Senior Vice President of Government Affairs, will act as a witness on behalf of the Secure ID Coalition to the Subcommittee on Health on solutions to combat health care waste, fraud and abuse during a hearing that will take place at 10 a.m. EST on Wednesday, Nov. 28.

The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) reports that the U.S. Medicare program suffers more than $60 billion in fraud every year through practices like phantom billing and durable medical equipment fraud.

In his testimony, Pattinson will address the Medicare Common Access Card Act (HR.2925) that could cut the current rate of fraud in half by simply modernizing the Medicare ID card – addressing fundamental identity and verification problems that have left the system vulnerable to exploitation.

The hearing webcast, entitled “Examining Options to Combat Health Care Waste, Fraud and Abuse,” will be available at http://energycommerce.house.gov/.

About Subcommittee on Health

The U.S. is home to a constant stream of cutting-edge medical advancements, but these innovations can only benefit patients and spur our economy if the FDA regulatory process keeps pace. The Health Subcommittee developed key reforms to promote this type of medical advancement, part of its broader efforts in the 112th Congress to support market-based improvements to our health care system and reject heavy-handed government control.
