Borqs' Focus on Cloud Computing Helps Government and Enterprise Customers Navigate Road to Enterprise Cloud

Borqs provides mobile operators with highly efficient enterprise cloud services

BEIJING, Dec. 3, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Cloud computing, the third wave of IT, is one of the fastest-growing emerging industries in the world with ever-expanding uses for both governments and enterprises. According to the latest quarterly IT Spending Report from Gartner, the global public cloud service market, which exceeded $91 billion in 2011, is expected to increase by 19 percent to $109 billion by the end of 2012. Ed Anderson, cloud computing observer at Gartner, has predicted that cloud computing will lead to a string of new expenditure points for the IT industry over a long timeframe and stimulate substantial growth in related markets. By 2016, said Mr. Anderson, the cloud computing industry will have more than doubled to a market scale of $207 billion. Rapid developments in cloud technology have led to a more mature cloud storage market and a major trend towards enterprise cloud computing.

However, government and enterprise customers, most notably mobile operators, are saddled with funding, equipment and manpower pressures, making the transition to enterprise cloud a difficult one to navigate. The mass of data generated during day-to-day operations must be stored long-term, which means size requirements are growing with each passing day. Local backup programs struggle to ensure that data is not lost and the cost of remote disaster recovery remains prohibitively high for many. In addition, careful access control is required to avoid data leakage, and massive amounts of data require enterprises to hire special personnel to implement and manage backup, increasing labor costs.

It is against this backdrop that leading global provider of integrated software platforms and end-to-end communication solutions Borqs International Holding Corp. (Borqs) sees great potential to help enterprises. Cloud storage technology and business models are maturing every day. There is still a gap in the storage market for enterprise customers, and the potential is huge. Compared to other government and enterprise customers, mobile network operators have an incomparable advantage in terms of social credibility. They have their own IDC equipment rooms and rich broadband network resources, and their billing habits are closest to those of customers in China. Their strong existing enterprise broadband customer base, enterprise broadband business and enterprise cloud business promote each other and form a "business package," helping mobile network operators to quickly increase their market share.

Borqs has focused on cloud computing for years, and it has been positioned as a leading provider of both cloud computing and end-to-end Android solutions since its founding. In 2008, the company began to focus on R&D in the cloud computing field and released successively the HB-CSS cloud storage solution, cloud storage system, gateway and applications solutions (uDrop/eDrop) similar to Amazon AWS S3, and vHive cloud analysis system. In addition, the HB-CDW cloud computing solution provides an OLAP database system to query and analyze mass data (up to 10PB) and the HB-ClusterMaster cloud maintenance solution promotes the efficient operation and maintenance of large-scale computing clusters. With the help of its mature cloud computing and cloud storage technologies, Borqs is committed to creating a unified cloud service platform based on the idea of "One Platform, Three Services." It will first build a unified cloud computing platform to promote mass data backup and serve as a safe box for enterprise information and the next-generation of three independent IDC services. Borqs will also develop and evolve so as to provide enterprise customers with better services and to develop more industry applications. Borqs is also poised to explore new businesses and models for enterprise cloud services and adopt online marketing methods to attract news users.

Furthermore, based on its proprietary intellectual property for a series of cloud storage products and solutions, Borqs will improve its user interface and user experience to fulfill mobile operators' special requirements and to help them adapt and implement related products. Borqs' highly efficient R&D team responds rapidly to develop new product functions and to meet new demands from enterprise customers; Borqs is also positioned to invest in all or part of a mobile operator's required hardware and software products and to take on system maintenance based on carrier requirements. Borqs can even provide local technology supporting order to improve system construction and maintenance.

With years of growth and successful operation, Borqs has accumulated ample experience in providing mobile operators with enterprise cloud services and has worked together with numerous government and enterprise customers to provide network traffic optimization and improved user experiences. Borqs has also completed the deployment of 800 storage nodes of 6TB each for the first phase of the Pangusou Cloud Storage Project(HB-CSS oHive/uDrop); The second phase will involve 1600 storage nodes of 12TB each, creating a final capacity of 24PB. In the eDrop project (HB-CSS oHive/uDrop) coordinated with Shenzhen Airlines, Borqs assisted in the construction of a private enterprise cloud and cloud services platform for over 10,000 employees. Leveraging its leading-edge technological advantage and spirit of innovation, Borqs will continue to provide enterprise cloud solutions to mobile operators, spurring mutual growth and development.

Whether your IoT service is connecting cars, homes, appliances, wearable, cameras or other devices, one question hangs in the balance – how do you actually make money from this service? The ability to turn your IoT service into profit requires the ability to create a monetization strategy that is flexible, scalable and working for you in real-time. It must be a transparent, smoothly implemented strategy that all stakeholders – from customers to the board – will be able to understand and comprehe...

According to Forrester Research, every business will become either a digital predator or digital prey by 2020. To avoid demise, organizations must rapidly create new sources of value in their end-to-end customer experiences. True digital predators also must break down information and process silos and extend digital transformation initiatives to empower employees with the digital resources needed to win, serve, and retain customers.
