PHOENIX, Dec. 4, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- IO, a leading provider of next-generation modular data center technology and services, and Active Power (NASDAQ: ACPW), a manufacturer of UPS (uninterruptible power supply) systems and modular infrastructure solutions, today announced a strategic partnership and integration of IO.OS software into Active Power's PowerHouse and CleanSource UPS product portfolio.
Through this partnership, Active Power customers will leverage the IO.OS software platform as part of their continuous power solutions. IO.OS is the best-in-class data center operating system that delivers IT and data center professionals a complete view of the physical infrastructure layer needed to maximize availability and efficiency across the IT stack.
The agreement provides Active Power with the IO.OS software for their UPS product portfolio, joint sales and marketing to Active Power customers, and cooperative upsell of customers from IO.OS for PowerHouse to IO.OS for their entire data center. IO will also have access to Active Power products and technology for use in IO's modular data center offerings.
"PowerHouse provides a cost-effective and fast-to-deploy solution for the critical power infrastructure of a data center," said Doug Milner, President and CEO, at Active Power. "By integrating IO.OS into PowerHouse, we are wrapping software tools around the infrastructure to reduce complexity and provide customers more useful analytics to make intelligent decisions so they can achieve their availability, efficiency, and sustainability goals."
"The IO.OS data center operating system is the emerging standard across the industry, enabling companies to achieve a software-defined data center infrastructure," said Kevin Malik, CIO and General Manager, IO Labs at IO. "We welcome Active Power to our global ecosystem of partners that is delivering IO-powered Data Center 2.0 solutions, enabling cloud computing and an economically and environmentally sustainable data center. Our partnership with Active Power offers us additional options and expertise for power systems integration and uniquely engineered solutions."
IO.OS is the first secure data center infrastructure operating system to bring together all data center assets in a single view. This enables organizations to gain the business intelligence, real-time visibility, service level attainment, cost management, and resource orchestration needed to achieve optimal data center performance.
