As NASCAR and Formula 1 teams prepare for the 2013 season, they serve as a good reminder to Oracle database teams that speed alone doesn't win the race. Without reliability, there are no checkered flags and champagne.
Oracle ACE directors and database managers have long exalted the speed of Red Gate's database tools, with quotes such as "It used to take 45 minutes in SQL Developer, but now it takes only 45 seconds with Red Gate's Schema Compare for Oracle." While the new Schema Compare for Oracle V3 has proven to be about 20 percent faster than its predecessor, the central focus of the latest version is on maintaining reliable database releases.
The winning combination
"Just as a winning NASCAR or Formula 1 car needs a combination of speed and reliability, successful database deployment relies on all the internal parts working in harmony and being overseen by a fully connected team," says James Murtagh, Red Gate's marketing manager for Oracle tools and editor of the website All Things Oracle. "The race to release is won when schema objects are under source control alongside application code."
Schema Compare for Oracle V3 delivers that winning combination for Oracle database teams. With a few clicks, it enables users to deploy and update their database from a source control repository (Subversion, TFS and others). Individual object creation scripts are automatically generated and arranged into folders matching the structure of their schema, which can then be put under source control.
Schema Compare for Oracle V3 displays the live/local database side-by-side with what's in source control and highlights differences. Synchronizing the two is as easy as clicking a few buttons to deploy through the UI or to generate a deployment script to export, review and execute through the user's IDE.
Give it a test spin
Whether racecar or software, the real test is when the rubber meets the road. Take a test spin with a free, 14-day trial of the full Schema Compare for Oracle V3 software.
