Esker, a worldwide leader in document process automation solutions, announced today that it has received the Statement on Standards for Attestation Engagements (SSAE) No. 16 and the International Standard on Assurance Engagements (ISAE) 3402 certifications for its on-demand automation solutions. These certifications have become the new standards for reporting on controls at service organizations — essentially replacing the aging Statement on Auditing Standards No. 70 (SAS 70) — and responding to the growing need for more globally accepted international accounting standards.

The SSAE 16 and ISAE 3402 certifications are based on many control objectives, which include: control environment, physical security and environmental safeguards, environmental security, computer operations, information security, application development, and data communications. Validating the quality and integrity of Esker’s internal control processes and procedures, these certifications deliver transparency and assurance to its U.S. and international customers.

SSAE 16, set up by the Auditing Standards Board of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, is a new comprehensive and expansive approach to compliance reporting. SSAE 16 closely mirrors and complies with the first international service organization reporting standard — ISAE 3402. Developed to address the global need for third-party reporting standards, ISAE 3402 delivers a more unified and transparent reporting tool when reporting on controls at service organizations.
