NuoDB Announces General Availability of Industry's First & Only Cloud Data Management System at Live-Streamed Event

AutoZone and NorthPoint Solutions Among Those Endorsing NuoDB

CAMBRIDGE, MA -- (Marketwire) -- 01/15/13 -- NuoDB, Inc., a startup offering the industry's only patented, elastically scalable Cloud Data Management System (CDMS), announced that its database software is generally available effective today, January 15, 2013. NuoDB is unveiling its CDMS, NuoDB Starlings release, at an invitation-only event at the Seaport Hotel in Boston, at 11 AM EST.

Anyone may attend the live-streamed launch event by registering here: http://go.nuodb.com/cdms-2013-register.html.

In addition, NuoDB Co-founder and CEO Barry Morris will introduce NuoDB's 12 rules for a 21st century cloud database; issue a CDMS performance challenge to the industry; and announce several customers and partners including the leading distributor of automotive replacement parts and accessories, AutoZone; technology solutions provider, NorthPoint Solutions; and food service and hospitality specialist, ComplianceMetrix.

"After a comprehensive trial and intense listening to our 3,500 beta customers, NuoDB is ready for market," stated Barry Morris. "Our Cloud Data Management System is a game changer. We are challenging the industry to offer comparable elastic scaling, over 1 million transactions per second performance on just $50,000 worth of commodity hardware as published in our latest benchmark report, as well as the many other cloud-friendly features found in our NuoDB Starlings release.

"Support from market leaders like NorthPoint, our first paying customer, and AutoZone, the number one automotive retailer in the United States, is invaluable validation of our technology as we become commercially available. They are prime movers among a growing vanguard of forward-thinking companies embracing the 21st century database," continued Morris.

Among those presenting at the January 15th event will be Dave Tewksbary, a technical expert for Dassault Systemes. Mr. Tewksbary will be discussing the results of his extensive evaluation of the NuoDB solution since January, 2012.

Customer Quotes
"NuoDB is launching a revolution in the database world by leveraging commodity storage. For the first time, an application's storage requirements can be satisfied using a pool of shared resources, operating in a fully-elastic way, as the nature of cloud computing requires," stated Richard Cooley, Managing Partner, NorthPoint.

"The database is no longer a monolithic, resource-intensive burden with limited scalability. While still maintaining the documented benefits of ACID and SQL, NuoDB is about as disruptive as it gets," continued Cooley.

NorthPoint builds enterprise digital platforms and transforms user experiences across the web, mobile, and social touch points. They focus on delivering scalable content and community solutions to organizations that drive revenue through online initiatives. They lead with experience.

NorthPoint has proudly built large-scale digital platforms for some of the world's most prestigious organizations including Hearst Magazines, Shaw Media, Rodale Publishing, Martha Stewart Living Omnimedia, Penton, Macmillan, Human Rights Watch, Christies Auction House, Rotary International, Gilt Groupe, Sony Music, Pearson Publishing, Cardiovascular Research Foundation, and many others in the Publishing, Not-for-Profit, Education, Media, and Healthcare industries.

IoT & Smart Cities Stories
The deluge of IoT sensor data collected from connected devices and the powerful AI required to make that data actionable are giving rise to a hybrid ecosystem in which cloud, on-prem and edge processes become interweaved. Attendees will learn how emerging composable infrastructure solutions deliver the adaptive architecture needed to manage this new data reality. Machine learning algorithms can better anticipate data storms and automate resources to support surges, including fully scalable GPU-c...
Machine learning has taken residence at our cities' cores and now we can finally have "smart cities." Cities are a collection of buildings made to provide the structure and safety necessary for people to function, create and survive. Buildings are a pool of ever-changing performance data from large automated systems such as heating and cooling to the people that live and work within them. Through machine learning, buildings can optimize performance, reduce costs, and improve occupant comfort by ...
The explosion of new web/cloud/IoT-based applications and the data they generate are transforming our world right before our eyes. In this rush to adopt these new technologies, organizations are often ignoring fundamental questions concerning who owns the data and failing to ask for permission to conduct invasive surveillance of their customers. Organizations that are not transparent about how their systems gather data telemetry without offering shared data ownership risk product rejection, regu...

Poor data quality and analytics drive down business value. In fact, Gartner estimated that the average financial impact of poor data quality on organizations is $9.7 million per year. But bad data is much more than a cost center. By eroding trust in information, analytics and the business decisions based on these, it is a serious impediment to digital transformation.
Digital Transformation: Preparing Cloud & IoT Security for the Age of Artificial Intelligence. As automation and artificial intelligence (AI) power solution development and delivery, many businesses need to build backend cloud capabilities. Enterprises have taken advantage of IoT to achieve important revenue and cost advantages. What is less apparent is how incumbent enterprises operating at scale have, following success with IoT, built analytic, operations management and software development capabilities - ranging from autonomous vehicles to manageable robotics installations. They have embraced these capabilities as if they were Silicon Valley startups.
As IoT continues to increase momentum, so does the associated risk. Secure Device Lifecycle Management (DLM) is ranked as one of the most important technology areas of IoT. Driving this trend is the realization that secure support for IoT devices provides companies the ability to deliver high-quality, reliable, secure offerings faster, create new revenue streams, and reduce support costs, all while building a competitive advantage in their markets. In this session, we will use customer use cases...
