Jonathan Adelstein, president of PCIA – The Wireless Infrastructure Association, and former FCC Commissioner, will deliver the morning keynote address on “Investing in America’s Wireless Future” at Super Wi-Fi Summit on Wednesday, January 30, at 9 a.m. EST, TMC and Crossfire Media announced. Super Wi-Fi Summit is collocated with ITEXPO, the world’s largest and best-attended communications and technology trade show, being held January 30 – February 1, 2013, at the Miami Beach Convention Center in Miami, Florida.
“I am pleased to join this event that highlights the role of wireless broadband in our nation’s communications network. Wi-Fi is a growing part of the solution for meeting the explosive demands for wireless broadband data,” Adelstein said. “Delivering that broadband is critical to our nation’s economic growth and productivity, the benefits of which extend beyond the wireless world to empower small business growth, and innovation in manufacturing, health care, education and most leading sectors of our economy.”
Recently leaving government work for the private sector, Adelstein is now president and CEO of PCIA – The Wireless Infrastructure Association, the trade association for the telecommunications infrastructure industry. PCIA provides expertise and support in the areas of advocacy, communications, events and education to its members: the carriers, infrastructure providers and professional services firms that own and manage more than 130,000 telecommunications facilities throughout the world.
Adelstein previously served as Administrator of the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Rural Utilities Service, a position to which he was appointed to by President Barack Obama. Adelstein also previously served as a commissioner of the Federal Communications Commission from 2002 to 2009, a position to which he was appointed by President George W. Bush.
Adelstein will kick off The Super Wi-Fi Summit with an opening keynote address on “Investing in America’s Wireless Future,” discussing the role of Super Wi-Fi, and other components of the Heterogeneous Network that must be built to meet consumer demand for wireless broadband solutions and fulfill policymakers' wireless broadband goals. Adelstein will explore the policies needed to ensure the country remains a leader in the wireless innovation and deployment.
“Super Wi-Fi Summit explores the vast new world of TV White Space: the next wave of available spectrum,” said Rich Tehrani, ITEXPO Chairman and CEO of TMC. “We’re pleased to welcome Mr. Adelstein as well as other leading industry visionaries to help our attendees better understand how alternative spectrum technologies and solutions will transform and bolster the mobile broadband industry in the years ahead.”
Super Wi-Fi Summit has also added additional programing to the agenda. The updated sessions can be found on the Super Wi-Fi Summit website.
