PHILADELPHIA, Jan. 22, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Fiberlink®, the leader in cloud-based solutions for enterprise mobility today announced it is the first mobile device management provider to be listed on the Cloud Security Alliance's (CSA) Security, Trust and Assurance Registry (STAR). As an official STAR member, Fiberlink customers can be assured that MaaS360 offers the fastest time to trust for mobile cloud services with the highest levels of security, transparency, and reliability in the industry.
With a view to encouraging security best practices for cloud providers, Fiberlink joins Amazon, Microsoft, HP, Box.com and a handful of other leading cloud vendors as an early entry in the STAR registry. The registry is based in part on the CSA Cloud Control Matrix (CCM), a guide to assess the security risks of a cloud provider based on regulations such as PCI, FedRAMP and ISO 27001/27002.
"Today's highly complex regulatory environment combined with pressures to manage a wide range of mobile devices and applications means that organizations moving into the cloud require structure, detail and clarity relating to security," said David Lingenfelter, information security officer at Fiberlink. "We look forward to bringing our enterprise mobility expertise and insight to this CSA initiative, helping shape the future of security in the cloud, while working alongside other experts in this rapidly evolving space."
Cloud providers must be transparent if businesses are to gain their trust. Openness on the part of cloud providers and willingness to show businesses that security and operational controls meet or exceed their expectations is essential to building consumer trust. The CSA STAR registry is designed to help in that process of trust building.
"We are pleased to have Fiberlink join the group of industry leaders taking part in the CSA STAR program," said Jim Reavis, Executive Director of the CSA. "We welcome their expertise and contributions to our ongoing research and education initiatives that continue to improve security standards in the cloud."
As the first and only MDM provider with authority to operate under FISMA and SOC 2 Type II compliance since 2007, MaaS360 meets the most rigorous standards for enterprise grade security and operations. Fiberlink is also a licensee of the TRUSTe Privacy Program, an independent organization whose mission is to build user's trust and confidence by promoting the use of fair information practices.
