FORT COLLINS, Colo., Feb. 11, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- DH2i™ Company, the world's leading provider of hypervisor-less application virtualization solutions, today announced that Eversheds, one of the largest and most successful law firms in the world, has chosen its DxConsole™ application virtualization solution to help manage its most business critical IT environment. More specifically, Eversheds plans to utilize DxConsole to ensure failover and high availability (HA), disaster recovery (DR), flexibility, scalability and optimization of its Microsoft SQL Server environment.

Eversheds' 4,500 lawyers and employees work as one global team, sharing a distinctive culture, which has deep client relationships at its core. Whether providing advice that is complex or straightforward, multi-national or local, an attitude of delivering only the very best underscores everything the firm does.
In 2012, Programme Manager Tim Connop identified the need for a significant technology review. Its purpose was twofold; to maintain and enhance the high level of service his team provides to internal employees and external clients, and to comply with internal governance and external regulatory requirements. During the review, Connop realized that Eversheds required a new solution to help it to manage its Microsoft SQL Server environment. This is one of Eversheds' most business critical environments as it hosts over 40 million documents and associated metadata.
Eversheds turned to trusted advisor, Computacenter, one of Europe's leading independent providers of IT infrastructure services. Computacenter recommended a relative newcomer to the market, DH2i and its recently launched DxConsole, application virtualization for Microsoft SQL Server. After initial discussions with DH2i, the next step was to conduct an exhaustive proof of concept (POC), which in this case included DxConsole piloting four very large key Eversheds databases.
"The POC progressed exactly as planned. Failover to, and restarting in, both data centers functioned perfectly, as well as restarting across various nodes. We also got the application servers successfully communicating directly with the databases," explained Connop. "Moreover, since our DBAs are already familiar with the recently end-of-lifed PolyServe, we believe the move to DxConsole will be seamless; avoiding the training and transition issues we would likely have with other alternative technologies."
Connop added, "The fact that DH2i offers such a robust roadmap with support for applications such as shared files, Citrix, and Microsoft SharePoint was also a big plus. We look forward to learning more about these solutions and how they can help us to improve the availability and performance of our other business critical apps, as well as lower associated costs, as DH2i makes them available."
"Eversheds regards the protection of its applications and data an upmost priority – there is no room for negotiation here. It therefore recognized that in order to maintain its SLA metrics, it required a new solution to manage its SQL Server environment," said Don Boxley, Co-Founder and CEO, DH2i. "DxConsole was chosen as it offers instance resiliency via failover from host-to-host and/or site-to-site. For DR, DxConsole can dynamically re-host SQL Server instances anywhere – freely and transparently, within and between heterogeneous physical, virtual and cloud environments." He continued, "In addition, DxConsole enables SQL Server instances to be load-balanced, quickly and transparently, to onsite or remote resources providing virtually unlimited flexibility and scalability. This also enables onsite resources to be fully optimized and capital expenditures to be deferred."
