Research and analytics firm Blueocean Market Intelligence announced today the results of a fourth quarter study analyzing awareness, perceptions and usage opportunities in the consumer cloud computing space. The study found that consumers’ understanding of cloud computing remains low, despite an increase in usage, since this study was first conducted last year. A complimentary live webinar will be held on March 13 to offer a preview of more key findings from the full report.
The study, based on Blueocean Market Intelligence’s 360 DiscoveryTM approach, involved online research, social media analysis, vendor interviews and in-depth consumer interviews in the United States, Germany and India.
“Cloud computing is growing rapidly. Today, the growth is coming not only from the business segment, but also from the consumer segment, where the opportunities are endless,” said Blueocean Market Intelligence Senior Vice President Ajith Sankaran. “While significant research exists surrounding the overall cloud computing industry, little research is focused on the consumer segment.”
A complimentary live webinar is set for March 13 at 1 p.m. EDT. Attendees will learn about the state of consumer cloud computing, current adoption patterns and barriers that need to be overcome in order for consumer cloud computing to truly become mainstream. Sankaran will share insights from this fourth quarter study including:
- Where is the growth in consumer cloud computing coming from?
- Why, even after a steady increase in usage, consumer “understanding” of cloud services remains low?
- Why is “consumer understanding” important?
- What are the major concerns among consumers when it comes to cloud computing?
