American Health's Health-e Outlook Program Hits the Ground Running

COLUMBUS, OH -- (MARKET WIRE) -- 02/23/05 -- An estimated forty-three percent of adults utilize the Internet for healthcare education. Researchers predict that the Internet's usefulness will continue to grow, with knowledge sharing between healthcare entities contributing to a more seamless delivery of quality information for the patient. Keeping in step with this growing trend, American Health Holding, Inc. introduced Health-e Outlook, their wellness web portal, late last year. Since its introduction, Health-e Outlook has proven to be a popular product with American Health's clients and prospects. "Health-e Outlook was the natural choice to expand the breadth of our product offerings," states Michael Reidelbach, President and CEO of American Health. "Health-e Outlook can operate as a stand-alone wellness tool, or be used as a referral source for our Beyond Disease Management program. It's an extremely exciting time for us."

Health-e Outlook combines an online Health Risk Appraisal (HRA) designed to determine an individual's risks with information tailored to individual users' health needs to help members manage their existing conditions and reduce their risks of developing new ones. Online health management programs are available to further educate and empower members to change their lifestyles.

In addition to these features, Health-e Outlook holds URAC's Health Web Site accreditation and includes interactive tools such as a personalized homepage, personal health record, and various risk assessment quizzes and tools. A demonstration of Health-e Outlook's tools and features is available on American Health's website, www.americanhealthholding.com.

The Jevons Paradox suggests that when technological advances increase efficiency of a resource, it results in an overall increase in consumption. Writing on the increased use of coal as a result of technological improvements, 19th-century economist William Stanley Jevons found that these improvements led to the development of new ways to utilize coal. In his session at 19th Cloud Expo, Mark Thiele, Chief Strategy Officer for Apcera, compared the Jevons Paradox to modern-day enterprise IT, examin...
