A few years ago, a British newspaper speculated on what might be the Web equivalent of the Seven Wonders of the World, and received suggestions that were hardly surprising: Google search, the Amazon.com e-tail portal, the eBay auction mechanism, etc. But that was back in 1991, before Facebook, Google Earth, and YouTube had even seen the light of day. So what sites or applications would be on today's list?
My own nominations would probably include The Wayback Machine - hosted by The Internet Archive, a 501(c)(3) non-profit that's building a digital library of Internet sites and other cultural artifacts in digital form.
My list of Web Wonders would also, for sure, feature Wikipedia.
Now all I need to do is to figure out what other five to choose. Complete lists of seven or individual sites/apps welcome...all suggestions welcome!
